Manilla Solar is a community solar project planned in North West NSW

Invest in Manilla Solar Project

Manilla Solar will go through various stages of financing during 2025 and 2026.

The community is currently looking for corporate co-investment. To learn more about this, please download the Co-Investment EOI document.

We also welcome investment from sophisticated investors and wholesale investors.

Preferred investment structure

The community's preferred investment structure is a convertible note mechanism that can operate as construction finance and convert into equity if and to the extent that the community cannot refinance the project.

Other funding structures

The community is open to alternative funding structures and appreciates that some investors may require greater certainty and/or greater control. If the community's preferred structure is not attractive, investors are invited to propose alternative structures.

The Project is supported by a $1.027 million grant from the NSW Government Regional Community Energy Fund. The funding is presently held by project founders Manilla Community Renewable Energy. This grant funding helps support the viability of the project, and will fund the construction and knowledge sharing aspects of the project.

The project aims to combine economic return with a lasting contribution to the prosperity of the region, to unite the community and provide a blueprint for other communities to follow.

The Project seeks to:
  • Provide long-term financial investment
  • Give the community control over critical energy generation infrastructure
  • Protect communities against electricity cost increases in times of increasing cost-of-living pressures
  • Stimulate new industries in the region
  • Contribute to the building of sustainable regional communities by developing and sharing a model for other communities to follow

In short, we are seeking to lead the way to renewable energy supply that benefits local communities by providing cheaper clean electricity to purchase, opportunities to investment in local energy infrastructure and provides returns to the community.

Several of these community benefits are also obligations under the funding agreement with the NSW State Government's Renewable Community Energy Fund.
